He really hadn't intended for the Garchomp he'd given Giovanni to attack him, that much he'd been honest about. If anything, the incident could potentially hurt his own plans almost as much as if he'd outright attacked the man himself. Cipher needed Team Rocket's cooperation for their plan to work, and the 'weapons' backfiring this early in the game would not help matters.

So at the northern edge of Azimuth Plain Nascour stood and waited for the leader of Team Rocket, decked out in clothes that, for once, didn't make him look like he was a Darkrai in human shape. Better to set a good impression, something that wasn't so easy with his normal appearance. If nothing else, he looked decidedly less threatening, which was what he needed.

"Maybe you ought to work on your memory, then," said Giovanni. "It gives off a fairly bad impression if you're told a Pokemon will be completely loyal to you and after the first few battles you use it in it attacks you."

"Is it still acting out, or has it calmed down yet?" Nascour asked as soon as Giovanni was finished speaking, refraining from commenting on that remark. "They can remain in hyper mode for a rather long time if it isn't taken care of. If it's still in hyper mode, let it out now. You can unleash it at me if you're that angry."

Of course, he'd brought along a safeguard for this occasion, just in case. If Giovanni took him up on that suggestion, he had a way to defend himself.

"To be honest, I've had no desire to let the damned thing out since that incident," said Giovanni, unhooking Garchomp's Pokeball from his belt. "In any case... that would be rather discourteous."

As much as he'd like to... regardless of what Nascour's actual intentions were, he couldn't help feeling like he was being baited.

"There are only two ways to snap it out of hyper mode. The first is to call out to it. The second it to render it unconscious." Nascour pulls his hands out of his pockets and holds his arms out to either side.

"If you send it out, it will attack me. Call out to it, and it will calm down." Crossing his arms, he shoots Giovanni an expectant look. "Or if you'd rather, I can take it back, but it'd be quite the waste."

"...heh. It won't take me that long to just call it, you know," said Giovanni, looking somewhat smug. "Depending on how I throw the Pokeball, it would take five more seconds for it to get to you than I would need to snap it out of this."

Right... Giovanni paused a moment to get his bearings on the situation, then threw the ball a few feet away from Nascour. As soon as the ball opened...

"Garchomp, calm down."

Nascour doesn't even blink, counting on Giovanni to call it. If he didn't... well, he'd had worse.

And, as if by magic, the dragon stopped and glanced around at the call, as if confused about its surroundings. Yes, it had indeed snapped him out of hyper mode (And though Giovanni is unaware of it at the moment, also served to partially open its heart).

Satisfied, Nascour allowed himself a slight smirk. "It's inevitable that it'll happen again, but the same method will always work."

"...I see. Good to know, then," said Giovanni, looking somewhat thoughtful. This did make the Garchomp a bit more usable, albeit somewhat undependable. If nothing else, he could attempt to bond with it now and ensure that the problem would effectively be nullified in the future.

...he'd told Silver he would, after all, and he wasn't about to break his word on that.

Now that that little problem is out of the way...

"Again, my sincerest apologies for what happened the other day. It wasn't meant to happen, and I know this puts a rather large dent in the possibility of collaboration." Regardless, he would still try. Cipher was more or less in shambles at the moment, so to succeed, they'd need the aid of Team Rocket.

"That said, I do hope you will still consider it."

"I'll think about it," said Giovanni, his tone somewhat flippant. On one hand, he was hesitant to do so, but the prospect of figuring out what level this guy was on was somewhat tempting. It wasn't a guarantee... but he'd probably learn more if he kept relations good than he would if he tried to murder Nascour right off the bat.

"It's better than nothing." He would appreciate you not trying to murder him, Giovanni. It would seriously hurt business relations, not to mention ruin his whole day.

"It certainly is," said Giovanni. "Expect an answer in a few days. Now, if you'll excuse me..."

[identity profile] riku-medusa.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course." He bows slightly. "I anticipate your answer, favorable or no."
